Art and Antique Auction

The Jubilee Fund Art and Antique Auction will be held on October 26, 2006. In addition, a Silent Auction, Draw Baskets and Door Prizes will also take place.  The theme for the 2006 event is "The Fun is in the Bargains!" All money raised will assist the Jubilee Fund in its work with low-income groups and individuals to promote self-reliance, dignity, self-respect and a better quality of life for healthier communities.

A special thank you to Assiniboine Credit Union, the Missionary Oblate Sisters of St. Boniface and Bill Knight of Bill Knight Flooring for their great support.

The Jubilee Fund helps build communities

Sometimes the only thing keeping a smart business idea from taking off is a little cash and moral support. That, in essence, is what the Jubilee Fund is all about.

Inspired by the concept of jubilee in the Hebrew scriptures, this is an attempt to build bridges between those who can invest money and those who may not qualify for traditional financing.

Organic Planet, as it was called, faced several setbacks including cost overruns. By the time it opened, cash flow was down and suppliers called in their receivables. The business closed.

Along came five workers, determined to revive the business, they formed the Organic Planet Worker Co-op. And with more help from the Jubilee Fund, they opened again in the heart of Winnipeg's Wolseley area. Read story

From our President

Gabriel Dufault, Métis from Saint-Boniface, is fluently bilingual in both of Canada’s official languages. Back in 2001 he readily agreed to join the board.

“I work with aboriginal people and see first hand the poverty and homeless in Winnipeg.” One way to assist people out of their rut is to help make their life more pleasant, to assist them in owning a home and doing things that other citizens take for granted.

Gabriel's two main goals while in office: a) communication with members, community and general public, and b) less dependency on government funding.
