President

Bill Gillis

Bill Gillis retired in July 2009  from ministry within The United Church of Canada after having served for more than thirty-nine years.  Originally from Nova Scotia, Bill began his pastoral ministry there and moved to Manitoba in 1981 where he was in pastoral ministry in Stonewall and area.

Later he moved to a staff position with Winnipeg Presbytery of The United Church and then to the staff of the Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario where he has served for the past fifteen years.  His last portfolio was the Conference Minister for Stewardship, Mission & Global Justice.

Bill has been interested in the goals and visions of the Jubilee Fund from its inception and has been an interpreter of its work within the United Church constituency.

Bill and his partner, Diane, have an adult son and daughter and a grandson.

 

Vice President

Rev. Father Jean-Paul Isabelle

Father Jean-Paul is a semi-retired prist, who joined the congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, because he was attracted to its ministry to minister to the poor, the voiceless and the powerless.

Father Jean-Paul served for seventeen years at Villa Marie Retreat Centre in various positions including four years as assistant director in promotion of retreats and thirteen years as a director. He served eleven years in the public schools as a counsellor and three years as principal of St-Norbert School (K -12) with a student population over 1000 and 52 teachers on staff. In addition, he served for six years as the provincial superior of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and six years on a resource team, training people in adult education programs.

 

Secretary
Marlene Coughlin

For the past 40 years, Marlene has worked with her husband Guy in the family insurance agency, Coughlin Insurance Brokers.  Their four children joined the business twenty-seven years ago. Marlene has done secretarial work and bookkeeping for their agency and she still works each Friday helping with a portion of the bookkeeping. 

Marlene is a member at St. John Brebeuf Parish and has served as Secretary and Chairperson of St. John Brebeuf School Board.  Presently, she takes the minutes for the Parish Pastoral Council and is a Eucharistic Minister. Marlene serves as an Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and is a volunteer at the Holy Names House of Peace.  In addition, Marlene participates in a prayer group, book club and two bridge clubs. 

 

Treasurer
Debra Zier-Vogel

Debra Zier-Vogel

Debra was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Point Douglas area of the city.  She graduated in 1976 from the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Arts with a major in Organizational Psychology. After graduation Debra entered an accounting program and in Calgary completed her Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designation. She has worked as a professional accountant and has held senior financial positions in the manufacturing, non-profit and financial industries. In Vancouver, while working in the non-profit sector Debra completed her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and earned a Human Resources certification (CHRP).

Debra and her husband Chris are residents of the Garden City area of Winnipeg and have three adult sons and one grandchild.
