Rita BorthwickRita Borthwick
Fund Development Manager

Rita started working for the Jubilee Fund March 1, 2003 as the Fund Development Manager. Her work encompasses three main areas, including;

  • Promotion and fund development. This includes the sale of investment certificates, memberships and fund raising. She is also responsible for building strong partnerships with community groups, government, Foundations, the corporate community and investors.
  • Communication. Rita is available to make presentations to individuals and groups. In addition, she prepares the newsletter and other communication elements as needed.
  •  Fund raising activities including the Art & Antique Auction, Special Events and Dinners.

As the Fund Development Manager, Rita is often called upon to make presentations to Business groups, church committees, congregations and service clubs.   She enjoys having the opportunity to tell the Jubilee Fund story and encouraging others to get involved either by making a donation, purchasing an Jubilee investment Certificate and/or volunteering on a committee or as a mentor.   "When we reach out into the community, more people become aware of the work we do.   We need to share our success stories, but most important we need to reach those individuals where assistance from the Jubilee Fund can make a difference in their lives."

Rita is a liturgical minister at St. Bernadette Parish; a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals; Immediate Past Chair of the Southland Park Condo Association; and volunteer canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division). She has been involved in the community and province for many years.   Rita served as the first woman President of the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce; Director of the East-Man Regional Development Board; Executive member of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada; Zone leader for the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division); Director of the Apprenticeship & Trades Qualification Board; Board member of the Canadian Small Business Advisory Council, has just completed a ten year term as a member of the Roger's Advisory Board.

She is a graduate from the University of Manitoba, mother of four delightful daughters; grandmother to the five smartest grandchildren on this earth, great grandmother to Christropher and wife to Jack.   Prior to joining the Jubilee Fund, Rita was a senior executive for seventeen years at two provincial non-profit associations.
