Sister Josephine ChudzikSister Josephine Chudzik

Sister Josephine Chudzik was raised in Winnipeg`s north end.   She became a member of the congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (S.N.J.M.) in 1959.   Sister Josephine has taught elementary school music and presently teaches music privately.  She recognized the importance of social justice issues in the early 1990s and joined her congregation's Justice and Peace Committee.  She has taken an interest in The Jubilee Fund Inc. from its inception, and was elected to the Board in 2001 - 2009.  During that time, Sister Josephine served as secretary to the Jubilee Fund Board and Executive and Chair of the Human Resources Committee..

When Sister Josephine was asked of her initial reaction to the Jubilee Fund, without hesitation she responded, "From the beginning when I heard of the Jubilee Fund and that it was involved with various faith groups/organizations I became very excited for two reasons;

  • Faith groups have always been involved with projects within their parish.   But this was bigger - faith groups had come together and were doing and being seen doing something concrete to help alleviate poverty.
  • That the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary were involved with the process."
In her spare time Sister Josephine enjoys visiting her family, singing, playing the piano, reading, walking and cycling.
