The North End Housing Project Inc. is a non-profit organization whose objective is to purchase and renovate older houses and then lease these homes to local residents, to create a pool of quality, affordable housing in the North End and local employment. Most of the rehabilitated homes are being rented with an option to purchase after five years. Local residents receive trades training in the process of doing the renovations. All three levels of government provided subsidies to help cover the costs. In 2002, The Jubilee Fund helped to secure mortgage and renovations financing for four homes.
