When a new student residence opened at the University of Winnipeg in 2009, the need for an enhanced campus dining experience was heightened for both the students on the University meal plan as well as to meet the existing demand for daily cafeteria services and catering for University functions.
After a number of meetings, a new organization was formed between the University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation and SEED Winnipeg. The enterprise that emerged from the discussions, Diversity Food Services, allows the University to deliver healthy food options to students while training new immigrants in food service preparation.
