The Jubilee Fund partnered with the Spence Neighbourhood Association (SNA) and the University of Winnipeg to provide affordable housing in an emerging part of the City. The Jubilee Fund provided the financing for two houses that were moved and renovated, providing badly needed residential properties.
The two houses were located on Langside Street where the University of Winnipeg Environmental Sciences Building and Student Housing Complex are located. The University of Winnipeg gave the two houses to the Spence Neighbourhood Association. The two homes were in excellent condition, one was built less than five years ago, while the other had extensive renovations done two years ago.
In December, 2007 the houses were lifted from their foundation and moved to 580 Furby Street and 598 Balmoral Street. The Jubilee Fund provided the enabling financing for the move and renovations. The Jubilee Fund strives to support these types of community endeavors and we are very happy to be working with SNA in achieving these goals.
