The Momentum Centre is a non-profit training centre that helps Indigenous and new Canadian youth between 18 and 30 engage in meaningful and ongoing careers that they are passionate about. They work with youth caught in the cycle of poverty and/or exiting the justice system. Many of the clients struggle with addiction issues.
Momentum provides tailored life skills training, mentorships and connections to the workforce. Momentum has been recognized by the Federal and Provincial Government as a unique and highly effective program where 85% of clients move onto full employment.
The Centre links participants with employers in their field of interest for work experience opportunities. Participants take part in Momentum Centre’s leadership initiative and professional development training twice a week to gain necessary skills, attitudes and confidence to bring their best to the workplace and to be successful in their careers of choice.
The Jubilee Fund was pleased to assist Momentum in partnership with Assiniboine Credit Union, to purchase their new training centre building that increases the stability of the organization and will soon provide equity for the group to become more sustainable and able to weather temporary financial challenges.
